Privacy policy
Last updated 30 October 2026.
Fettle Software makes Fettledesk, Fettleboard and Fettlecode. This policy covers our websites (fettle.software, desk.fettle.software, board.fettle.software, code.fettle.software, waitlist.fettle.software and portal-teams.fettle.software), the Fettle waitlist, and email you send us. It also explains what the Fettle apps send when you run them. Questions: [email protected].
In short
- Our websites set no cookies and run no analytics, advertising or tracking.
- We collect only what you choose to give us: your email address on the waitlist, or what you write when you email us.
- We never sell, rent or trade personal information.
- The Fettle apps run on your server, and your data stays there.
Our websites
- No cookies or tracking. The sites set no cookies and use no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and store nothing in your browser.
- Nothing from other sites. Fonts, images and scripts are served from our own sites, so your browser doesn't contact anyone else to show a page.
- Hosting. The sites are hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks, under the Cloudflare privacy policy. We don't turn on visitor analytics and don't receive a record of who visited.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist at waitlist.fettle.software:
- What we keep: your email address, the apps you said interest you, when you joined, the consent wording you agreed to, and a private link that lets you unsubscribe.
- Why: only to email you about Fettle's launches and early access. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't add you to any other list.
- Where: in a database in our own Cloudflare account. We send the emails ourselves, through Proton Mail, under the Proton privacy policy. No mailing-list company is involved.
- Unsubscribing: every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe on the waitlist site. We keep an unsubscribed address marked as unsubscribed, so it isn't emailed again by mistake; ask us and we'll delete it entirely.
- How long: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we stop sending launch news.
Email you send us
When you email us, we keep the conversation in Proton Mail so we can reply and follow up. We don't add you to the waitlist or any list unless you ask.
Donations
If you donate, the payment is handled by the platform you use (such as GitHub Sponsors or Ko-fi), under that platform's privacy policy. We see only what the platform shares with us, such as your name if you choose to make it public.
The Fettle apps
- Your data stays on your server. Fettledesk, Fettleboard and Fettlecode are self-hosted. Everything stored in them stays in the database and storage of the server you run them on. Fettle Software never receives it.
- The update check. Once a day, a released Fettle app asks its
website (for example desk.fettle.software/releases.json) for the newest version number,
so administrators can be told about updates. Like any web request it reveals your
server's IP address to Cloudflare, which hosts the file. It sends nothing about your
installation, its users or its data, and we keep no record of these requests. Set
UPDATE_CHECK=falseto turn it off. - Only connections you set up. Otherwise the apps connect only to services you configure, such as your mail server, single sign-on provider, integrations, or an AI provider you choose. Those services handle data under their own terms.
- Who's responsible. The organisation that runs an installation decides what's stored in it and who can see it, and is responsible for it under privacy law. If you have a question about data in a Fettle app at your school or workplace, ask the organisation that runs it.
GitHub
Issues, discussions and contributions on GitHub are public and handled under GitHub's terms and privacy statement. Please don't post personal or sensitive information there.
Sharing and overseas storage
We share personal information only with the services named above, which help us run our sites and send email, or when the law requires it. Cloudflare (based in the United States) and Proton (based in Switzerland) may store or process information outside Australia. We choose services that protect it to a standard at least as high as Australian law asks.
Keeping it safe
Our sites are served only over HTTPS. The waitlist can only be read by us, behind a password, and we keep as little as we need.
Your rights
- You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email [email protected]; we'll reply within 30 days.
- In Australia, we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you're unhappy with how we've handled yours, tell us first; if we don't resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
- In the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights the GDPR gives you, including to object and to complain to your data protection authority. We rely on your consent for the waitlist, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
Children
The waitlist is for adults and for organisations. If you're under 16, please don't join it; if we learn we've collected a child's details, we'll delete them.
Changes
We'll date any change at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use waitlist addresses, we'll tell the people on it before it applies.
